Cruisin' for a Kidney planned

Thursday, May 3, 2012

Ozark Mountain Motorcycle Club will host Cruisin' for a Kidney on Saturday, May 26. The event will start in the parking lot of the Barry County Museum, located on Highway 112 south of Cassville.

Registration for the poker run is from 7:30 to 9 a.m. The entry fee is $25 per person. The grand prize will be 40 percent of the pot. The participant who has the worse hand will earn 10 percent of the pot.

Other festivities include a silent auction, drawings, lunch, music and a bike wash.

The event will benefit Lucy Khang, who has been diagnosed with IgA nephropathy. IgA is a protein that helps the body fight infections. IgA nephropathy (Berger's disease) occurs when too much of the protein is deposited in the kidneys.

Khang needs a kidney transplant. She is currently undergoing dialysis and is on several waiting lists for a kidney.

The fundraiser will hep Khang's family pay medical costs associated with her treatment.
