Teaching kids to save

Democrat Photo/Reed In celebration of National Teach Children to Save Day, Justin Gates, of Security Bank, spoke to fifth graders at Cassville Intermediate School, Exeter Elementary School and Wheaton Elementary School on April 26. Gates told students about saving for short- and long-term goals, how to establish a savings account and the importance of financial education. Gates had the opportunity to speak to around 200 students this year. He has addressed several thousand students since Security Bank began the program around seven years ago. Jon Horner, Security Bank president, also visited area schools on National Teach Children to Save Day this year.
