On April 20, the Cassville City Council unanimously approved the appointment of Bill Shiveley as Cassville mayor.

Mayor Pro Tem Terry Heinz opened the meeting with a motion to nominate Shiveley for the mayor's position. Alderman Darrell Ledenham seconded the motion.

After the nomination was approved by the alderman, Heinz invited Shiveley to take his oath of office. Shiveley was sworn in by Noelle Harmon, Cassville city clerk.

Heinz congratulated Shiveley and presented him with the mayor's gavel. Shiveley asked if there was any additional business to come before the council.

Harmon stated that there was no additional business and that the next meeting would be held in the council chambers at 6 p.m. on Monday, May 14.

"I want to welcome you on behalf of the staff of the City of Cassville," said Harmon. "We are happy to have you as our mayor, and we thank you for serving."

Shiveley said he carefully considered the request to serve as mayor before accepting.

"I hope I can be of service to the city," said Shiveley. "I would like to see the city come together with the citizens to gain some confidence back with the administration.

"I don't know all of the staff members yet, but I hope to get to meet everyone," added Shiveley.
