Duane Kaiser, a Republican, spent his career helping others through education, developing budgets and operating under them and working with a cross section of the public. The Monett native, who has lived in the Stones Prairie community his entire life, taught vocational agriculture for 30 years.
In 1980, Kaiser was the Monett School's first agriculture teacher after the district reintroduced its agriculture program. He then taught in the Crane R-3 School District before joining the East Newton School District where he worked for 27 years before retiring in July of 2010. Kaiser now teaches part-time for the Pierce City School District.
Kaiser and his wife, Colleen, own and operate a small dairy farm southwest of Monett that has been in the family for three generations. He is a member of the Missouri Retired Teachers Association, the Barry County Farm Bureau and the Barry County Extension Council.
"I look forward to the opportunity of serving the citizens of Barry County as their northern commissioner," said Kaiser.
