James Paul Mattingly, 73, of Cassville, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2012, in his home.

He was born Dec. 18, 1938, in Cassville, the son of Winford "Slim" and Hattie (May) Mattingly. On June 19, 1993, he was united in marriage to Rita (Murphy) Nunziata, who survives.

Additional survivors include: two sons, Jim Mattingly and his wife, Rhonda, of Purdy, and Rodney Mattingly and his wife, Kerry, of Exeter; one daughter, Robin Mattingly, of Cassville; and five grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters, Ruth Mattingly and Ruby Anderson.

He received his elementary education at the House Rural School and graduated from Cassville High School. He had worked for Robertson Commission Company, Springfield Livestock and for 10 years, at Barry County Ready Mix. For several years, he sold cars for Jim Nesbitt Ford and later for Les Jacobs Ford, retiring five years ago. He attended Arnhart Baptist Church at Purdy.

Funeral services were held Sunday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. John Duncan and Rev. Paul Yarnall conducted the services. Burial was at Antioch Cemetery, Cassville.
