David Sater, a 1972 graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Pharmacy, has been named the school's 2012 Outstanding Alumnus of the Year. Sater currently serves Barry and Stone counties, District 68, in the Missouri House of Representatives. Prior to being elected to office in 2004, Sater and his wife, Sharon, owned and operated Sater Pharmacy in Cassville since 1974. Sater was named Pharmacist of the Year in 1983 and has been active in a number of healthcare organizations. He is a founding member of the Pregnancy Care Center in Aurora, served as president of the American Cancer Society and volunteered on medical mission trips to Honduras. He received the Legislative Leadership Award from the Missouri Pharmacy Association and the Freshman Legislator of the Year Award in 2005. The university will recognize Sater at an alumni awards celebration at the Westin Crown Center in Kansas City on April 26.
