Family Casino Night is Saturday

Wednesday, April 18, 2012

Kornerstone Inc., will hold its first Family Casino Night at the Crowder College Cassville Campus Community Center from 7 to 10 p.m. on Saturday. All community members are invited to attend.

Attendees will have the opportunity to play black jack, poker and slot machines using play money. The event will also offer a kids gaming area for children over the age of 12.

Advanced tickets are $15. Tickets will be available at the door at a cost of $20. Each ticket includes $500 in play money.

"We are encouraging advanced ticket sales to ensure we have enough tables available during the event," said Marlene Whitham, Kornerstone director. "Community members don't have to purchase a ticket to come in though."

Community members can use real money to play the cash cube or prize wheel or bid on items in a silent auction. The event will also offer concessions, musical entertainment and a public auction.

Some of the items that will be offered in the auctions include: a TV; a tablet; paintings created by local artists; and hat signed by several members of the Kansas City Chiefs football team.

The Family Casino Night will replace Kornerstone's annual Dessert On Us fundraiser, which benefited Kornerstone's Teen Mom, early childhood, GED and NovaNet programs.

"It will be a fun night," said Whitham. "Attendees will be able to use their play money winnings to purchase items through our silent and live auctions.

"All proceeds will be used to keep Kornerstone's programs operating," said Whitham. "We provide services to low-come families and community members with educational needs. Community members who attend will be supporting a worthwhile non-profit program."
