Hansford Lester Ash, 89, of Cassville, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2012, in his home.

He was born Sept. 30, 1922, in Cassville, the son of Floyd L. and Charline (Baker) Ash. On Oct. 20, 1942, in Cassville, he was united in marriage to Viola Foster, who survives.

Additional survivors include: one son, Sidney Ash and his wife, Linda, of Strafford; two daughters, Sandra Tichenor and her husband, John, of Wasilla, Alaska, and Angela Mann and her husband, Tom, of Granby; one sister, Betty Woosley, of Independence; seven grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Rex Ash.

He grew up and received his education in Cassville, graduating from Cassville High School with the Class of 1939. During World War II, He joined the U.S. Army, serving from Aug. 31, 1944, until June 27, 1946. He spent most of his life in Cassville. In 1991, he retired from Cassville Ramey Supermar-ket as inventory manager. He was a member and deacon of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Cassville. Funeral services were held Monday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Kevin Hilton and Pastor John Henry conducted the services. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Cassville.
