Specialist Alonzo Duane Grey, 28, currently of Hinesville, Ga., formerly of Jenkins, passed away on Monday, April 9, 2012, at his home. He was born on Oct. 16, 1983, son of Duane Grey Jr. and Teresa Grey in Springfield. He was a lifelong resident of the Jenkins community and was a graduate of Cassville High School, Class of 2002. Before enlisting in the U.S. Army on Feb. 8, 2009, he was employed with George's, Inc. in Butterfield. He was united in marriage to Charlene Thomas, on Nov. 7, 2004, at Clio. He was currently stationed at Fort Stewart, Ga., and had previously served his country honorably for 11 months in Operation Iraqi Freedom in Al Asad, Iraq.
Survivors include: his wife, Charlene Grey, of Hinesville, Ga.; one step-daughter, Dannon Prichard, of Hinesville, Ga.; his mother, Teresa Grey, and her fiancée, Charles Nickle, of Jenkins; one sister, Mikala Livingston, of Galena; and one uncle, Jeff Reeb, of Memphis, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his father, Duane Grey Jr., and his grandparents, Alonzo E. Reeb Jr., and Mary Alice Reeb.
Full military funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 21, at 1 p.m. at the White Funeral Home in Cassville with burial at Clio Cemetery, Jenkins, with Chaplain Miller from the U.S. Army officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
