Matthew Ryan Pruitt, 25, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2012, at his residence in Cassville. He was born on Sept. 29, 1986, in Tulsa, Okla., son of Gary and Cindy (Harris) Pruitt. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in Iraq and Afghanistan, where he received the Purple Heart, an Iraq Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, and Overseas Service Bar. He moved to Cassville three years ago from Tulsa, Okla.
Survivors include: his daughter, Jade Elizabeth Pruitt, of the home; his father, Gary Pruitt and his wife, Vanessa, of Cassville; his mother, Cindy Lee Pruitt, of Sand Springs, Okla.; his maternal grandmother, Gerry Harris, of Granby; his paternal grandfather, Jim Pruitt, and his wife, Margaret, of Fairview; one brother, Jeremy, of McAlester, Okla.; one sister, Shannon Pruitt, of Cassville; one paternal uncle, Russell Pruitt, of Waco, Texas; two paternal aunts, Vicki Brock, of Stark City, Edith Gail Green, of Soperton, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Ashley Pruitt, in 1986; his maternal grandfather, Jack Edward Harris, I; his paternal grandmother, Virginia Pruitt, and his paternal uncle, Jack Edward Harris, II.

Graveside services with military honors were held today (Wednesday) at Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow, Okla. Memorial donations may be made to Matthew's daughter, Jade, and entrusted to the White Funeral Home, Cassville.
