Rev. Fred L. Lynn, 88, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2012. He was born March 8, 1924, in Vera Cruz, Mo., in Douglas County. He graduated from Nixa High School. He did additional studies and training at Draughons University, ABC Radio School, Baptist Bible College and Moody Bible Institute.

His ministry spanned over 50 years. He was ordained in the ministry in 1962. He was the founding pastor of Glendale Baptist Church in Springfield and was a long-time pastor at Corinth Baptist Church at Cassville. He also had pastorates at other churches, and he had lead 26 tours of the Holy Land.

He had several years of radio broadcasting with KGBX, KCMO, KWTO, KWFC and KLFJ.

He served in the Missouri State Legislature from 1974 to 1988.

Survivors include: his wife, Duna 'Beshears' Lynn, of seven years; two daughters, Judith ann Haver, of Springfield and Melinda Jo Massey and her husband, Bill, of Edmond, Okla.; and two granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of 54 years and mother of their two daughters, Opal Claretta 'Trantham' Lynn.

Services were held April 5 at Klinger-Cope Funeral Home, Springfield. Interment followed at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
