Curtis Leroy Reed, 64, of Purdy, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2012, in Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, following a short illness.

He was born Sept. 26, 1947, in Fort Scott, Kan., the son of Cleo and Eva Reed. On Aug. 29, 1992, he was united in marriage to Callie Pruitt, who survives.

Additional survivors include: five sons, Frank Reed, of Detroit, Mich., Curtis Reed, II, of Seneca, Kenneth Reed, of Seneca, Nelson Reed, of Cassville, and Curtis Stark, of Miami, Okla.; five daughters, Michelle, of Parsons, Kan., Kimberly, of Wagoner, Okla., Melanie Niffen, of Pittsburg, Kan., Callie Brown and her husband, Steven, of Seneca, and Gloria Stark, of Miami, Okla.; three brothers, Cleo Reed, of Rocky Comfort, Bob Reed, of Riverton, Kan., and Albert Reed, of Farmington, Ark.; and two sisters, Christine Brown, of Prairie Grove, Ark., and Carolyn Deweese, of West Fork, Ark.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Melvin Reed and Neil Reed.

He grew up and received his education in Kansas. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of Paralyzed Veterans of America. Most of his life was spent as a diesel, auto mechanic. In 1989, he moved from Kansas to Missouri to make his home.

No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
