Nellie Marcella Long, 90, of Joplin, passed away Monday, March 19, 2012, at her home.

She was born April 24, 1921, in Cassville, the daughter of Benton and Flossie Starkey. She had lived in Joplin most of her life. She was a housewife and a member of the Freewill Baptist Church.

She married Jesse M. Long Feb. 26, 1945, in Columbus, Kan. He preceded her in death on Nov. 29, 1994. She was also preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.

Survivors include: a daughter, Diana Burkhart and her husband, Neal, of Joplin; two sons, Clarence Long and his wife, Deborah, and Rodney Long and his wife, Leighann, all of Joplin; two sisters, Colleen Henson and her husband, J.D., of Ridgley, and Glendale "Doogie" Harvey, of Cassville; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday at Mason-Woodard Chapel in Joplin with Randy L. Wilson, Minister, officiating. Burial followed at the Hornet Cemetery.
