On March 20, a Galena man was killed in a single-vehicle crash that occurred at 5:13 p.m. on Highway 76 about seven miles northeast of Shell Knob.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred when the driver of a 2003 Ford F250, Kenneth E. Boyd, 51, of Galena, ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree. Boyd was killed in the crash. The body was taken to Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
A passenger in the vehicle, Christy D. Carroll, 34, of Lampe, was taken to Cox Hospital South in Springfield with serious injuries. Neither was wearing a seat belt.
This is Troop D's 17th fatality crash for the year.
Other wrecks
* On Thursday, an Exeter teen was injured in a two-vehicle crash that took place at 7:50 a.m. on Farm Road 2200 about two miles southwest of Exeter. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred when the driver of a 1992 Toyota Camry, Allyson K. Cunningham, 16, of Exeter, struck a 2005 Ford F150 that was partially parked in the roadway. Cunningham was taken with minor injuries to Mercy Hospital in Cassville with minor injuries. She was not wearing a seat belt. The Ford was unoccupied.
* Two Purdy residents were injured in a single-vehicle crash that took place at 7:05 p.m. on Sunday on Highway 76 about one and a half miles east of Cape Fair. The crash occurred when the driver of a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle, Samuel L. Harkey, 36, of Purdy, left the side of the roadway and overturned. He received moderate injuries in the crash. A passenger on the vehicle, Samuel L. Harkey, 13, was seriously injured. Both were taken to Cox South Hospital in Springfield.
