April is Public Health Month, and in recognition of the event, the Barry County Health Department will offer a variety of services to promote community awareness.
Employees will offer free private well water testing from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday, April 2 through Thursday, April 5. The department will provide water test kits to individuals for water sample collections.
Throughout the month, the department will present heart disease and stroke risk reduction information along with blood pressure checks.
Testing for sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV, syphilis, gonorrhea and chlamydia, may be obtained at a cost of $15.
The department will also offer nutritional classes on building stronger bones on Wednesdays at the Cassville office and Thursdays at the Monett office.
Breast feeding education and sessions with a breast feeding peer counselor are available by appointment.
