Upward awards night

First Baptist Church of Cassville On March 13, held its Upward Basketball and Cheerleading Awards Night. A total of 164 youth participated in this year's program. Dan Meers, the Kansas City Chiefs mascot K.C. Wolf, was the special guest speaker. The cheerleaders performed a dance routine for those in attendance. The Cassville YMCA provided inflatable games for entertainment. The purpose of Upward is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ through the ministry of sports. The program is open to students in first through seventh grades. First Baptist Church has been conducting Upward programs for 11 years. Registration opens in November and the season consists of a weekly practice and eight Saturday games. An Itty-Bitty League for children five years of age or in kindergarten that is also held in October.
