Jimmie Lee Carter, 69, of Cassville, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2012, in his home.

He was born May 5, 1942, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of John Raymond and Elsie Lavonia (Breese) Carter. On Dec. 9, 1989, in Columbus, Neb., he was united in marriage to Janita Kay Ruth, who survives.

Additional survivors include: one son, Michael Carter, of Newtown; three daughters, Teresa Williams and her husband, Jon, of Corydon, Iowa, Laura Woods, of Kirksville, and Melissa Widener and her husband, Ben, of Cassville; four brothers, Bill Carter and his wife, Shirley, of Trenton, John Raymond Carter, Jr., and his wife, June, of Unionville, Richard Carter and his wife, Lana, of Trenton, and Gary Carter and his wife, Jo, of Cincinnati, Iowa; six sisters, Rosemary Cramer and her husband, Marvin, of Tooele, Utah, Joann Stark, of Trenton, Sarah Holiday, of Unionville, Linda Carter, of Trenton, Betty Loughed and her husband, Junior, of Lucearn, and Wanda Lightner and her husband, David, of Harris; 15 grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; and one great- grandchild.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Jimmie Lee Carter; and one stepdaughter, Katherine Weyer.

He received his education in Newtown High School in Newtown. For several years, he was custodian at Georges Poultry Plant.

No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
