Lady Wildcat seniors to lead young track squad

Wednesday, March 21, 2012

The Cassville Lady Wildcats will rely on a core group of seniors to lead a young squad through the 2012 track season.

"We are a young team this year that lacks varsity experience," noted Cassville's Jennifer Nichols. "We have several girls who have the ability to compete with the rest of the conference in individual events, as well as our relay teams."

The Lady Wildcats 4x100 meter relay earned a trip to state last spring, and seniors Danielle Pianalto, Calisia Brooks and Reba Dupont all return from that quartet. Audra Shumaker is a top contender for the open spot in the sprint relays.

Becca Haney, another senior, gives Cassville experience in the pole vault.

Deborah Kern qualified for state cross country last fall, and will head up the distance corps. Chantel Hughes will also compete in the distance events.

Ashley Krallman, Jade Null and Bayle Sidney figure to see action in the middle distance and longer relays.
