Duane Thomas Mac-Donald, 58, of Shell Knob, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012, in his home.

He was born Aug. 17, 1953, in Lansing, Mich., the son of Ernest and Betty (Burr) MacDonald. On Jan. 3, 1983, in Denver, Colo., he was united in marriage to Cecil Dianne Hunley, who survives.

Additional survivors include: his mother, Betty MacDonald of Sears, Mich.; his step-mother, Tuiren MacDonald Bratina, of Helena, Ala.; two sisters, Jeanne Laimon and her husband, John, of Jackson, Mich., and Laura Schuberg and her husband, Rick, of Sears, Mich.; and three brothers, John MacDonald and his wife, Diane, of St. John's, Mich., Robert "Bob" MacDonald, of Sears, Mich., and William "Bill Bradford and his wife, Lucy, of Hartford, Conn. Preceding him in death was his father.

He was a 1971 graduate from Hillsdale High School. In 1978, he received his bachelor of arts degree (biology major/chemistry minor) from Western State College of Gunnison, Colo., and he received his master's degree from the University of Colorado Health Science Center in Denver. He worked extensively with the Special Olympics and Channel Nine Health Fairs in Colorado. In 2003, he and Cecil moved from Denver to Shell Knob to make their home.

The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 p.m. Saturday in Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob.
