Victoria LeCompte, daughter of Michael and Jill LeCompte of Cassville, was recently inducted into the honor society Phi Eta Sigma at Missouri State University. Phi Eta Sigma is an honor society for college freshmen that attain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale at any full-time curricular period during their first year at the university level. Phi Eta Sigma was founded in 1923 and is the oldest and largest national honor society for college freshmen. Cash scholarships of up to $5,000 and awards of $1,000 are provided to members of Phi Eta Sigma selected by the national scholarship committee. The Missouri State University Chapter also offers a scholarship to a local member. LeCompte is a 2011 graduate of Cassville High School. She is studying education at Missouri State University in Springfield. She is the granddaughter of Calvin and Dell Holman and Barbara and the late Bill LeCompte.
