Jo Ann Owings died at home February 25, 2012, from a heart attack in Klamath Falls, Oregon.
Jo was born on February 10, 1932, in Exeter, Missouri, as the eldest child of Harold (Hoot) and Marie Gibson.
On February 5, 1949, she married John Carl Owings in Cassville, Missouri, while seniors in high school.
For three summers, John Carl would work at Crater Lake, OR, while Jo Ann stayed back in Missouri taking care of their two children. After living in several states, they moved to Klamath Falls in 1957. Another daughter was born in 1959. They also raised their grandson, Cody Owings, for the majority of his life.
Given a terminal prognosis due to emphysema and pulmonary hypertension, Jo lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Leigh and Floyd Frisk for the past 14 months.
Jo was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, John Carl Owings, her sister Peggy Jean Ash, and her brother, Gary Gibson.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Leigh and Floyd Frisk, daughter and son-in-law Carla and Rick Chavez, son Travis Owings, grandson and wife Cody and Cherryle Owings, grandson and girlfriend Jessy Frisk and Sierra Hess, 4 granddaughters, 4 great-granddaughters, 4 great grandsons and one on the way, 1 great great grandson and many other relatives.
Services were held at Davenport's Chapel of the Good Shepherd in Klamath Falls, OR, on Thursday, March 1, 2012. Internment is at Eternal Hills between her beloved husband and sister.
