The Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce still needs volunteers to help serve coffee to anglers at Roaring River State Park on March 1.
Each year, the Cassville Chamber offers complimentary coffee and coffee mugs to anglers who gather along the banks of the Roaring River stream from 5 to 6:30 a.m. on Opening Day.
This year, coffee has been donated by Walmart. It will be brewed by Jeremy Marple and Darrin Jacobs under the Les Jacobs Ford tent across from the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Lodge.
The following businesses sponsored this year's coffee mugs: Cappy Harris Realtors; Fastrip; Freedom Bank; Heritage Medical; Hutchens Construction; Les Jacobs Ford-Mercury; MariCorp U.S.; Missouri Parks, Inc.; Oak Hill Court; Roaring River Resort; Runnels Chiropractic; Security Bank of Southwest Missouri; Tim's Fly Shop; and Tractor Supply Company.
In addition to serving coffee to park visitors during the Opening Day festivities, the chamber will award $50 Cassville Cash certificates to the man and woman who reel in the biggest fish on March 1. The youth with the largest trout will receive a trophy.
Anglers interested in competing in the big fish contest must weigh their fish at the chamber weigh-in station that will be located in front of the CCC Lodge. Awards will be presented at noon.
For the first time, the chamber offered Opening Day T-shirts this year. The dark green shirts will display the message "There is something fishy about Cassville."
Several volunteers will be wearing their shirts as they serve coffee on Opening Day. An assortment of local businesses have also encouraged their employees to wear the Trout Day shirts throughout the day.
The following sponsors are recognized on the back of the Opening Day T-shirts: Baywash Car Wash, Bear Crossing, Crowder College, Fastrip, Heritage Medical, Les Jacobs Ford, MariCorp U.S., Mozarks Directories, Roaring River Resort and Tim's Fly Shop.
