Barry County USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) Executive Director Brian Blount reminds producers that enrollment for the 2012 Direct and Counter-cyclical Program (DCP) and the Average Crop Revenue Election (ACRE) program began on Jan. 23 and will continue through June 1.
Blount said producers must sign a new contract annually for each of these programs and all signatures must be obtained by the deadline.
"We encourage producers to call and set up an appointment to begin the enrollment process as soon as possible," Blount said. "This will allow adequate time to obtain all necessary signatures before the June 1 deadline."
The 2008 Farm Bill states that no 2012 advance direct payments for DCP and ACRE will be issued. Direct payments are paid at a rate established by statute and are expected to be made in October of 2012.
