The Ozark 7 Scholar Bowl Tournament is slated to take place on Wednesday, Feb. 29, and will be hosted by Southwest Middle School in Washburn.

Two teams from Exeter, Thomas Jefferson, Purdy, Verona and Wheaton will take on students from Southwest in double-elimination competition, starting at 1:30 p.m.

Abbreviated matches will keep the tournament flowing quickly. Teams will be seeded based on regular season records. Trophies will be awarded to the winners.

"Scholar Bowl is not well known, but it is an incredible extracurricular activity for young people," said Steve Voyak, Southwest coach and organizer of the event. "The coaches went to the conference administration back in the fall with a plan, which was approved. All the players are really excited about the tournament."

Games are scheduled to take place at 1:30 p.m., 2:15 p.m., 3:15 p.m., 4 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. The championship round is expected to take place at 5:30 p.m.

Thomas Jefferson is the top seed, followed by Verona, Southwest, Purdy, Exeter and Wheaton.
