Melba Sutton Eakin, 66, of Shell Knob, passed away Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, in Mercy Hospital, Springfield.
She was born May 29, 1945, in Dallas, Texas, the daughter of Luther and Jessie (LaCroix) Sutton.
Surviving is her mother, Jessie Sutton, of Pineville, La. Preceding her in death were her father and her brother, Marlin Sutton.
She received her education in Texas, graduating from high school in Dallas. For one year, she attended College in Denton, Texas, and then graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of North Carolina with her master's degree. She moved to New York, where she was employed by Chase Manhattan Bank and then worked for Shell Oil Company as an investment analyst. During her employment with Shell Oil, she was sent to London, England, to work for two years. She was very active in the Shell Knob Community. She was a member of Central Community United Methodist Church.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, in Central Community United Methodist Church, Shell Knob. Pastor Barry Fielder will conduct the services.
Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob.
