George W. Coffey, 81, of Exeter, passed away Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, in Mercy Hospital, Cassville.

He was born Feb. 22, 1930, in Barry County, the son of Tom and Alta (Stamps) Coffey. On Jan. 23, 1997, he was united in marriage to Marilyn (Chambers), who survives.

Additional survivors include: one daughter, Susan Lynn Sorensen and her husband, Donnie, of Exeter; one son, Donnie Coffey and his wife, Rhonda, of Exeter; one stepson, Frank Stuhlman, of Joplin; one brother, Tommy Coffey, of Kansas City; one sister, Donna Baker, of Springfield; and several grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Gary Bruce Coffey; one brother, Garland Coffey; and two sisters, Virginia Coffey and Norma Garrison.

He was a life-long resident of Barry County. He received his education at Wheaton, where he graduated from high school. Most of his life was spent as a logger and running a saw mill. He was a follower of the Living Church of God.

Funeral services were held Tuesday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Brother Steve Higgs conducted the services. Burial was at Maplewood Cemetery, Exeter.
