Cassville's newest Champions of Trivia will be crowned on Friday, March 9 at the Cassville Education Fund Trivia Night festivities. The informal evening of fun and games begins at 7 p.m. in the Cassville High School commons area.
Two-time defending champions, the Methodist Saints, will battle other teams to see who has the greatest knowledge of trivia. Topics include everything from sports, history, geography, literature, pop culture, movies and music, to food and science.
This is a team competition where team members discuss each question among themselves and agree upon the answer that is written on their answer sheet.
Four rounds of trivia questions will be held. While the scores of each round are being tallied, team members will be able to participate in optional winner-take-all bonus point competitions. The champions will be the team that, at the end of the night, has correctly answered the most number of questions and earned the most bonus points.
In addition to garnering bragging rights, the winners will be awarded medals and their names will be engraved on a traveling trophy.
Dessert and refreshments will be available throughout the evening.
Friends, church groups, co-workers, clubs and trivia buffs are encouraged to form their own teams with up to eight members. Individuals can participate as well and will be assigned to a pick-up team the night of the event.
The cost to participate in the trivia contest is $15 per player or $120 per team. Admission for the event will be $5 per person.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Cassville Education Fund, a permanent endowment supporting academic programs at Cassville Schools. Grants from the interest on the fund will be awarded in May.
