Former Cassville music teacher, Dr. Russell Robinson, will conduct his world premiere, De Profundis, for choir and orchestra at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center on Sunday, March 4. The performers will include 200 high school and college singers selected from across the United States and professional orchestra and soloists. Robinson will open the concert with Franz Schubert's Mass in G and conclude with his new work. Dr. Robinson has conducted at Carnegie Hall twice as well as Boston's Symphony Hall, the National Cathedral and the White House. "Mr. R," as he was known when teaching at Cassville, taught middle school and high school instrumental and choral music from 1974 to 1979 and 1980 to 1981, receiving his masters and doctorate in music from the University of Miami before joining the faculty at the University of Florida in 1984 where he is professor and chairman of the music education department.
