Drug task force agent to speak at luncheon

Wednesday, February 8, 2012

Southwest Missouri Drug Task Force Agent John Luckey will be the guest speaker at the Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce's first quarterly luncheon of 2012. The event is scheduled to be held at the Barry County Museum at noon on Thursday, Feb. 16.

"The chamber is excited to have Agent Luckey as our guest speaker for our first luncheon," said Mindi Artherton, chamber executive director. "Everyone in attendance is sure to learn something about some of the issues our region is facing. I am excited to learn more about the important work that Agent Luckey does everyday."

Luckey, who is a retired United States Marine with 17 years of law enforcement experience, said he is very excited to have the opportunity to speak to the Cassville business community.

A Southwest Missouri Drug Task Force agent since 2007, Luckey currently serves as the officer in charge of the task force, which covers Barry, McDonald and Lawrence counties. During his address, he will talk about local illegal drug trends and methamphetamine laboratory awareness.

"Quarterly luncheons are about education and networking," said Artherton. "Every guest will have the opportunity to make business contacts.

"We will open the meeting with quick introductions and a chance to let others know about what is going on at their place of business," said Artherton. "People get really creative with their introductions."

The Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce's "The Chamber: Today and Beyond" program is designed to showcase contributions made to the local community by area businesses, industries and organizations.

Community members who attend the luncheon will enjoy a meal catered by Papa Vito's. The quarterly luncheon event will cost $8 per person.

To register for the event, call Artherton at 847-2814 or email her at chamber@cassville.com. The registration deadline is Monday, Feb. 13.
