Chocolate Festival is Saturday

Wednesday, February 8, 2012

The eighth annual Chocolate Lovers' Festival will bring a world of epicurean delights to area choco-holics beginning at 9 a.m. and continuing until 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11 at the Inn of the Ozarks Convention Center in Eureka Springs, Ark. This is the third year the event has been sponsored by Vacation Rentals, Inc.

"This is the perfect day-trip or weekend get-away for those wanting to celebrate Valentine's Day or just indulge in waterfalls of chocolate," said Pam Hinson, Holiday Island Vacation Rentals manager. "Vacation Rentals is thrilled to be presenting the Chocolate Lovers' Festival again this year."

This year's event will feature multiple dipping fountains in addition to cakes, cookies, ice cream and beverages. Chocolate novelty items and body products will also be available. Vendors will showcase their items and offer samples to attendees.

The festival will also have several "best of" contests in both amateur and professional categories. Some of those include best decorated cake, best candy, best dessert, most creative dessert, best brownies, best candy and best cookies.

Contest celebrity judges for this year's festival are Judi Hicks, Kat Robinson, Mike Bishop, Steve Grant and Tim Tibbs.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to take the festival home with a collection of over 500 recipes in the Chocolate Lovers' Festival Cookbook, available at a cost of $15.

The event will benefit many area charities and not-for-profit organizations, including: The Academy of Excellence, Eureka Springs, Ark., School/Main Stage After School Kids; Exeter High School's FFA program; and Galena High School's Family and Consumer Science program.

Tickets for this year's event are available at a cost of $10 for adults and $6 for children under the age of 6.
