Nearly 100 people attended a special event hosted by the Southwest Missouri Tea Party at the Shell Knob/Viola Community Building on Jan. 30. Cynthia Davis, candidate for lieutenant governor, Rep. Shane Schoeller, candidate for secretary of state, and Rep. Paul Curtman offered special addresses during the event. A question and answer session was held at the end of the evening. In addition to listening to the speakers, attendees enjoyed chili made by the Shell Knob VFW Ladies Auxiliary and pie donated by event sponsors. Local Boy Scouts also raised funds during the event by selling drinks. Other officials in attendance included: James Strahan, candidate for Missouri State Senate; Frank Washburn, Barry County southern commissioner and candidate for Missouri House; and Scott Fitzpatrick, candidate for Missouri House.
