Leota Faye Roden, 81, of Cassville, died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, in Mercy Hospital, Springfield.
She born Jan. 8, 1931, at Cassville, the second child of William Henry and Lois Olena (Hawk) Thompson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Harold Roden, and her twin sister, Oleta Maye Thompson.
She attended Cassville School until the sixth grade, after which she completed her education at Butterfield School, where she was the valedictorian of the Class of 1949.
Following graduation, she began work at the Barry County Library in Cassville. On July 31, 1955, she was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Roden at the First Baptist Church in Butterfield.
Survivors include: five children, George and wife, Carolyn, of Cassville, Susan, of Cassville, Jennifer and husband, Steve Stewart, of Broken Arrow, Okla., Chris, of Lebanon, and Jeff and wife, Kara, of Clever; four grandchildren; her two brothers, Charles Thompson and wife, Ruth, and Lewis Thompson and wife, Martha, both of Cassville.
She worked at Jumping Jacks Shoe Corp., in Cassville for six years and then spent 13 years at Justin Boot Company before retiring.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Butterfield, where she served as church clerk for 36 years from 1968 to 2004.
Funeral services were held Monday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. Dave Eaton conducted the services. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Cassville.
