The 83rd annual Barry County Soils and Crops Conference will be held at the Butterfield Community Center from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9.
Registration is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., and a free meal will be served at 6:15 p.m.
Lisa (Dale) Hyde, assistant vice president of risk management at FCS in Mt. Vernon, will offer information on crop insurance, and Tim Schnakenberg, University of Missouri Extension agronomy specialist from Crane, will discuss options for overcoming stand loss in pastures.
Eldon Cole, MU Extension livestock specialist from Mt. Vernon, will also be present to share information on beef heifer retention and purchase.
The conference, which is designed to provide county agricultural producers with research-based farming information, is co-sponsored by the Barry County Extension Council, the Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce and area agribusinesses. The annual event began in 1929.
