Shell Knob man injured in crash near Carr Lane

Shell Knob man is dead following a single-vehicle crash that took place at 7:20 p.m. on Highway 39, about a half of a mile north of Carr Lane.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Gary W. Barta, 63, of Shell Knob, was driving a 2008 Ford F150 when the vehicle went off the road, struck a culvert and overturned. Barta was pronounced dead at the scene by Stone County Coroner John Cunningham. Barta was wearing a seat belt.

The body was taken to Stumpff Funeral Home in Kimberling City.

Other crashes

* Two Exeter residents were injured in a single-vehicle wreck that occurred at 8:05 a.m. on Thursday on Farm Road 1045 about three miles west of Exeter. The crash occurred when the driver of a 2003 Ford F150 Amy N, Cole, 36, of Exeter, ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree and an embankment. Cole received moderate injuries in the crash. She was not wearing a seat belt. A passenger in the vehicle Madelyn Cole, 12, of Exeter, sustained minor injuries in the wreck. She was wearing a seat belt. Both occupants were taken to St. John's Hospital-Cassville.

* A Rocky Comfort man was seriously injured in a two vehicle crash that occurred at 6:25 p.m. Sunday on Highway 71 about two miles north of Neosho. The crash took place when the 1998 Oldsmobile, driven by Thomas E. Easton, 35, of Rocky Comfort, was struck from behind by a 1998 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck, driven by Ricky L. Jones, 22, of Neosho. The Easton vehicle then ran off the roadway and overturned. Easton was taken to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin with serious injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt. A passenger in the vehicle, Brian T. Easton, 12, was also taken to Freeman West Hospital with minor injuries. He was wearing a seat belt. Jones was also wearing a seat belt.
