Seligman CC approves police vehicle purchase

The Seligman City Council approved the purchase of a new police vehicle at a special meeting on Jan. 20.

The aldermen received the following four bids: 2008 Ford Crown Victoria with 54,176 miles, $11,999 from Joe Watt Police Cars in Vinita, Okla.; 2006 Ford Crown Victoria with 106,000 miles, $6,200 from an individual in Diamond; 2007 Ford Crown Victoria, 65,900 miles, $13,000 from Government Fleet Sales in Kansas City; and 2007 Ford Crown Victoria with 64,799, $5,500 from Joe Watt Police Cars.

The council voted to purchase the 2007 Ford Crown Victoria for $5,500 from Joe Watt Police Cars. The city will also sell its old 2002 car to the highest bidder.

The Seligman City Council held a special meeting on Jan. 16. During that meeting, the aldermen:

* Voted to replace city attorney and prosecutor Darwin Groomer with Darlene Parrigon effective immediately.

* Approved a resolution in support of the E-911 sales tax increase.

* Voted to submit a press release to local media regarding the non-renewal of the Seligman Super Stop business license.
