Johnnie Morris Simpson, 89, of Jasper, (formerly of Purdy) passed away Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012, at his home. He was born July 10, 1922, in Butterfield, the son of the late Barney and Mabel (Taylor) Simpson. He was united in marriage on June 21, 1946, in Columbus, Kan., to Jewell Pryor, she preceded him in death on May 6, 2010.
He was a farmer and served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of the Church of God Holiness in Carthage.
Survivors include: two sons, Brian Simpson and wife, Stella, of Jasper, and Tracy Simpson and wife, Lorene, of Lamar; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by both of his parents.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Chapel in Monett with Rev. John Poff officiating. Burial will follow services at Arnhart Cemetery in Purdy.
Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society or the Avalon Hospice.
