Thomas C. Blankenship, 63, formerly of Cassville, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012, in Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital in Columbia.
Blankenship was born Oct. 22, 1948, in Cato, the son of Cleo K. Blankenship and Lois K. Roney-Fox. He graduated from Cassville High School in 1966.
Blankenship served in the United States Army as a construction surveyor during Vietnam from 1967 to 1969. He earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
He later worked as a highway construction surveyor at Superior Asphalt in Kansas City. He was a member of the Construction Laborer's Union Local 663.
Blankenship was preceeded in death by his father and mother.
Survivors include: a sister, Kathryn Ashley and her husband, Ken; three daughters, Melissa Hillard and her husband, Gerald, Sonyette Bockelman and her husband, Travis, and Melissa Shull and her husband, Doug; six grandchildren; and two nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Springfield at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 30. Visitation will be held at Greenlawn Funeral Home South in Springfield from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 29.
Burial with military honors will be held at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield at 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 30.
