Chamber banquet is Saturday
The Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce will host its annual banquet in the Cassville High School commons area at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28. Joplin Schools Superintendent Dr. CJ Huff will serve as keynote speaker for the event.
"The chamber banquet serves as a time to reflect on the previous year and celebrate some well deserved individuals and businesses," said Mindi Artherton, chamber executive director. "We all get caught up in the 'business' of life and forget to remind ourselves that we have accomplished a lot. This banquet is just that -- a reminder of the hard working individuals and businesses that make Cassville great.
"Everyone will get to enjoy a delicious brisket and chicken dinner prepared by John Sullivan and served by Cassville FCCLA members," said Artherton. "I am also very excited to hear our keynote speaker, Dr. CJ Huff, address the group. He will be a dynamic speaker that will share the story of Joplin schools in light of the 2011 tornado."
In addition to the address by Dr. Huff, the chamber banquet will offer several addresses by board members and the presentation of the organization's annual awards.
"The banquet is a great opportunity for our business community to gather and celebrate Cassville," said Artherton. "Our outgoing president, Michael LeCompte, will give four awards to businesses and individuals that have made an impact on Cassville during the last year."
This year's awards will include two Business Beautification Awards, the Volunteer of the Year Award and the Community Service Award.
"Our outgoing board members will also be recognized," said Artherton. "Anyone that is interested in celebrating our community should plan to attend."
Outgoing chamber board members who will be recognized include: LeCompte, Stacy Runnels, Dr. Chip Kammerlohr, Blake Whitley and Jan Massey.
The banquet will also offer an address by Gary Whyte, incoming board president. Other community members joining the chamber board this year are: Guila Norris, Joel Curren, Kelly Mills and Coy Dalton.
Near the end of the banquet, those in attendance will have the opportunity to win one of the beautiful table decorations donated by local businesses. The decorations will serve as centerpieces during the banquet.
Tickets for the annual banquet are available at the chamber office, which is located at 504 Main St. in Cassville Advanced tickets are $20 per person. Tickets will also be available at the door for a cost of $22 per person.
