Edwin "Leon" Williams, 74, of Washburn, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012, in Ozark Community Hospital, Springfield.
He was born Sept. 8, 1937, in Exeter, the son of Rolland Earl and Gladys (Gardner) Williams. On Dec. 26, 1958, in Cassville, he was united in marriage to Wanda D. "Dee" Pendergraft, who preceded him in death on April 4, 2008. Also preceding him in death were his father; one son, Edwin Leon Williams, Jr.; and two brothers, Johnny Williams and Bill Williams.
Survivors include: his mother, Gladys Williams, of Cassville; two sons, Roger Williams, of Washburn, and James Williams and his wife, Mary, of Monett; three brothers, Carl Williams and his wife, Jan, of Washburn, Jim Williams and his wife, Mary, of Gateway, Ark., and Jack Williams and his wife, Alma, of Cassville; three sisters, Shirley Dean, of Cassville, Linda Pippin, of Pineville, and Julia Carter, of Little Rock, Ark.; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
He received his education at Southwest Schools at Washburn. He then entered the U.S. Army, serving from June 14, 1956, until July 17, 1967. On Dec. 17, 1986, he retired from the National Guard. For several years, he was farm manager for Hudson Farms at various locations.
Funeral services were held Friday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Doyle Russell, Chaplain Jack Betts and Rick Hendrix conducted the services. Burial with military honors was at Washburn, Prairie Cemetery, Washburn.
