Oliver Quinton Couey, 70, of Fountain Hill, Ark., passed away on Jan. 18, 2012, at the Ashley County Medical Center in Crossett, Ark. He was born on May 1, 1941, in Fountain Hill. He graduated from Fountain Hill High School in 1959, and he received his bachelor's degree in business from the Monticello A&M College. He was a member of the Army National Guard Reserve. In 1974, he moved to Crossett, Ark., where he owned and operated the Couey Chrysler, Plymouth, American Motors and Jeep dealership. He later moved his family to Wheaten, where he owned and operated the Junction Quick Stop. In 2008, he retired and moved back to Fountain Hill, Ark. He was a member of the Fountain Hill First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus Quinton Couey and Rachel Mears Couey.
Survivors include: his wife of 42 years, Patricia Ann Morgan Couey; two sons, Quinton Oliver Couey II, and his fiancÚ, Rhonda Lawson, of Fountain Hill, Ark., and Morgan David Couey, and his wife, Juna, of Ridgley; four grandchildren; one brother, Phillip Mears Couey, of Hamburg, Ark.; and two sisters, Nancy Foote Spivey, of Hamburg, Ark., and Cheryl Wilson, of DeWitt, Ark.
Funeral services were Saturday at the Fountain Hill First Baptist Church. Burial was at the Flat Creek Cemetery.
