Thelma Lou McFar-land, 83, of Cassville, passed away Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, in Cassville Health Care and Rehab.

She was born Oct. 24, 1928, in Laverne, Okla., the daughter of Clarence Leroy and Leslie Fern (Wright) Jacobs. On Nov. 25, 1946, in Pineville, she was united in marriage to Orlette "Jack" Voile McFarland, who preceded her in death on Sept. 12, 2007. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one son Ted McFarland; two grandsons; two brothers, Floyd Jacobs and Lloyd Jacobs; and one sister, Clara McFarland.

Survivors include: two sons, Mark McFarland and his wife, Tamala. of Rocky Comfort, and Randy McFarland and his wife, Sandy, of Washburn; two daughters, Jackie Patterson, of Stella, and Donna Studivan and her husband, Grover, of Cassville; one sister, Nancy Baker, of Pineville; a sister-in-law, Tressa Jacobs, of Bonner Springs, Kan.; 11 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She grew up in Oklahoma and received her education at Blue Bell School. When she was a teenager, she moved with her family to Powell. In 1955, she and Jack moved their family to Stella, where she remained until entering the nursing home in 2002. For several years, she was a cook at Triway School in Stella. She was a long time, active member of Cross Roads Baptist Church at Stella, where she taught Sunday School for several years.

Graveside services were held today (Wednesday) in Union Cemetery, Stella, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Doyle Russell conducted the services.
