CHS girls finish fourth in tourney

The Cassville Lady Wildcats went 1-2 at the Lady Comet Invitational at Marionville last week, ending with a loss to Pleasant Hope in the third place game on Saturday.

"It was a tough tournament with some really good teams, and I thought our kids competed well," said Cassville's Chris Shore.

The Lady Wildcats knocked off Billings on Tuesday night, 65-37, in a game that saw nine different players score for Cassville.

Emily Speakman led the scoring column with 17, and both Raeghan Blisard and Kennadi Howard reached double figures with 14 and 12, respectively.

Cassville then fell to host Marionville on Thursday in a close game, 47-41. Howard led the Lady Wildcats in that contest with 16, and Jaime Everett added 12.

Then on Saturday, the Lady Wildcats dropped a 54-46 decision to Pleasant Hope in the third place game.

Against Pleasant Hope, the Lady Wildcats fell behind 26-17 at halftime and could never catch up, despite Speakman's 25-point night.

Cassville scoring: Emily Speakman 25; Jaime Everett 10; Kennadi Howard 5; Katelyn Pitts, Raeghan Blisard and Cari Vollenweider, 2 each.

Pleasant Hope scoring: Hailey Richardson 17; Catlin Evans 11; Starla Staffen 10; Kari Hillenberg 7; Kori Hillenberg 6; and Becca Jones 3.

Welcome return Chuck Nickle Photography Trey Rose, #3, has returned to the Cassville line-up after recovering from a hand injury. The front court play of Rose was instrumental in the Wildcats' run through the Spokane Tournament.

Speakman was named to the All-Tournament team.

"Playing this kind of competition will help us later on in the season," said Shore.

The Lady Wildcats return to action Thursday night when they host the Clever Lady Blue Jays.
