Margaret Jane Meadows, 83, of Jenkins, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, at the St. John's Hospital in Aurora. She was born Oct. 2, 1928, in Jenkins, the daughter of Oleah Homer and Nora Ethel (Teague) Ray. She was a 1945 graduate of Aurora High School and graduated from the University of Missouri, Columbia. She started teaching in 1945 at Lone Elm School and taught at many schools in the various communities where they lived, completing her career at Jenkins Elementary School in 1982. On Jan. 15, 1951, she married Willard Grant Meadows in Aurora, and he survives.

Additional survivors include: two daughters, Jane Owens and her husband, Randy, of Jenkins, and Jan Ruhlman and her husband, Shaun, of Wichita, Kan.; one brother, Bob Ray and his wife, Pat, of Jenkins; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Her parents and a sister, Ruth Suttles, preceded her in death.

A funeral service was held today (Wednesday) in the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home with burial at the Leann Cemetery.
