After a long Christmas break and some interesting tournament games, area high schools saw their basketball teams return to regular season action last week.
In an Ozark 7 Conference border war, the Southwest Trojans doubled up Exeter, 82-41 on Friday night. Southwest blew this game wide open early, leading 60-21 at halftime.
Jeff Elkins went wild for the Trojans, hitting five treys while scoring 36 points. Elkins earned the coveted double-double with his 11 rebounds. Skylar Knoll also reached double figures for Southwest, scoring 17.
As a team, Southwest shot six of 21 from three-point range, 25 of 45 on two-point shooting and four of 19 from the free-throw line.
The Cassville Wildcats defeated Reeds Spring on Tuesday night, 50-45, but then lost to Carl Junction on Friday, 58-52.
