Charles "Charlie" Dale Lyngar, 80, of Shell Knob, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011, at his home.

He was born June 21, 1931, in Topeka, Kan., the son of J. Frank and Blanche (Whaley) Lyngar.

After graduating from high school, he went to Washburn University. He then went to General Motors Institute in Flint, Mich., until his marriage June 7, 1951, to Eva May Shaner, who survives.

After retiring at the age of 50, they moved to Shell Knob.

Survivors include: eight children, who all reside in Missouri: Frank (Nancy), of Kansas City; Gary (Gretchen), of Lee's Summit; Michael (Shelly), of Kearney; Charlene Tade (Tony), of Lee's Summit; Karen Dix (Greg), of Kansas City; Susan Luker (Jack), of Shell Knob; Donna Trader (Mark), of Springfield; and Paula Cosentino, of Lee's Summit; 18 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob.
