Barry County residents who plan to vote during the Feb. 7, 2012, presidential primary election must register at the Barry County Clerk's Office by Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012.
Individuals who have moved or had a name change are also asked to update their voter registration information at the clerk's office.
Absentee voting will begin at the clerk's office on Tuesday, Dec. 27. Voting hours are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Voters must present one form of identification, such as a driver's license or a voter registration card.
Area residents who are unable to vote absentee in person can request an absentee ballot by mail. Written requests should be mailed to Gary Youngblood at 700 Main St., Suite 2, Cassville MO 65625 or faxed to 417-847-5311.
Ballots must be requested by Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012.
Requests must include the following information: the date of the election; the voter's name, physical address, mailing address, phone number and date of birth; the last four digits of the voter's Social Security number; the reason for voting absentee; and the voter's signature.
In the primary, voters must also select a party ballot. Choices are Republican, Democrat and Libertarian.
