The Cassville Wildcats broke into the win column on Tuesday night, beating the visiting Crane Pirates, 60-31. Ricky Nichols led the Cassville attack with 20 points, as the Wildcats built on the positive play they showed against Republic in their previous game.

Cassville took a commanding 21-7 first-quarter lead and stretched to a 36-10 halftime advantage over the Pirates.

But on Friday night at Carthage, the Wildcats found the roles reversed. A solid Carthage team, playing in front of a fired up home crowd, roared to a 49-21 halftime lead and ran away in the second half to a 74-30 win.

The Wildcats will play in the Southwest Holiday Tournament during the Christmas break, before resuming their regular schedule on the road against Reeds Spring on Jan. 3, 2012.
