Maude "Laney" Woods, 91, of Cassville, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011.

She was born May 6, 1920, in Ridgley, the daughter of John and Myrtle (Powell) Laney, one of nine children. On Aug. 2, 1939, she was united in marriage to James Woods, who preceded her in death on Nov. 22, 2008.

Survivors include: two daughters, Sue Hill and her husband, Ron, of Lee's Summit, and Shirley Sermon and her husband, Bob, of West Plains; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Berning and her husband, John of Exeter; and a brother-in-law, Frank Woods and his wife, Carolyn, of Kalispell, Mont.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; two sisters; a daughter, Wilma and her husband, Gary, and a grandson.

She was employed with companies and finished her working career with her husband, James, in the Shelter Insurance Agency.

She was a 50-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church, Cassville.

Funeral services were held Saturday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. James Weaver and Rev. John Duncan conducted the services. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Cassville.
