Raymond Charles Licklider, 85, of Ridgley, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, at Cox Monett Hospital, Monett.
He was born in St. Louis, Nov. 22, 1926, the son of Lemuel Charles and Nora Louise (Branson) Licklider. On Oct. 25, 1952, he was united in marriage to Lorene Brattin, who survives.
Additional survivors include: one daughter, Lisa Blain, of Cassville; four sisters, Ida Miller, of Overland Park, Kan., Bernice Braun, of Overland Park, Kan., Linda Kay Johnson, of Shawnee, Kan., and Elizabeth Cole, of Shawnee, Kan.; and two grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Elmer Licklider; and two sisters, Shirley Tate and Barbara Lee Licklider.
He graduated from Argentine High School in Kansas City, Kan., and continued his education at Kansas City, Kan., Junior College. He served during World War II in the U.S. Navy from August 1943 until 1946 and continued his service to his country in April, 1947, by joining the U.S. Army. He returned to Ridgley in 1979. He was a member of the Exeter Church of Christ, American Legion Post #52 of Wheaton and Comfort Masonic Lodge #533 of Wheaton. He and Lorene served as Democratic Committee persons for Liberty Township for several years.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 18 in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Eddie Bowman will conduct the services. Burial with military honors will be in Muncie Chapel Cemetery, Wheaton.
Masonic services will be held at 6 p.m., Saturday in Fohn Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 8 p.m.
