Larry Gene Luney, Sr., 63, of Cassville, passed away Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, in Fayetteville VA Medical Center, Fayetteville, Ark.
He was born April 20, 1948, in Cassville, the son of Frank and Geneva (Lassiter) Luney. On May 29, 1971, in Las Vegas, Nev., he was united in marriage to Beulah Withnell and to this union seven children were born.
Survivors include: three sons, Larry Luney, Jr. and his wife, Helen, of Purdy, James Luney and his wife, JoAnna, of Springfield, and Jason Luney, of Cassville; four daughters, Michele Holenda and her husband, Michael, of Cassville, Falisha Turner and her husband, Jeremy, of Cassville, Heather Jones and her husband, Matthew, of Augusta, Kan., and Alicia Luney, of Cassville; one sister Paula Cornett, of Cassville; one brother, Gary Barber and his wife, Ruby, of Santa Rosa, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Robert Luney; and his step-father, Paul Barber.
He grew up and received his education in California. On Feb. 6, 1968, he entered the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam and received his discharge on Feb. 5, 1971. in 1991, he moved to Cassville to make his home.
Graveside services with military honors were held Tuesday, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Wayne Betts conducted the services.
